Saturday, September 9 2017   Home Smart Initiative – River Heights Neighbourhood The Winnipeg Police Service continues to see high numbers of reports of residential Break and Enters and Property Crime in the City of Winnipeg. On July 14, 2017, the Winnipeg Police Service Community Support Division launched the William Whyte Home Smart Safety Initiative. Officers provided information on steps which can be taken to create a safe environment and safer communities. Tomorrow, Sunday, September 10,  this initiative will continue in the River Heights community. The WPS Caravan will be at the River Heights Community Club (1370 Grosvenor Ave.) between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Community Relations officers, Cadets and by-law officers will be on hand to provide information and tips regarding home security. Officers will also have information on: - Recruiting for both police and civilian positions - By-law infractions - How to become a COPP member (Citizens On Patrol Program) Uniformed officers and cadets will be in vehicles, on foot and bicycles throughout the neighbourhood to offer prevention tips and answer questions. Most property crimes are preventable. Take away the opportunity and help keep your home safe.
