Court Order Violation Arrest – C15-75497
On April 16, 2015 at approximately 3:35 a.m., West District Patrol members were travelling in the area of Carpathia Road and Corydon Avenue when a male on bicycle was observed.
 
Officers proceeded to conduct a spot check on the suspicious male travelling at this late hour in the River Height area.  He was identified and it was determined that he was breaching conditions related to curfew.
 
Dalton LAPORTE, 20 years-old was arrested and charged with the following due to his alleged involvement:
 
Fail to Comply Condition Recognizance x 2
 
He was remanded into custody.
 
West District member's commitment to address on-going concerns related to criminal activity in the River Heights area, including all others, continues. Working with community members with an emphasis on proactive policing is essential to our success.      
 
 
Fraud Arrest – R14-77786
In October 2014 members of the Winnipeg Police Service Commercial Crime Unit entered into a fraud investigation involving a lunch program at a school in the River East Transcona School Division.
 
The program committee discovered inconsistences regarding the allocation of lunch program funds which resulted in their own initial investigation. Once completed, police were subsequently notified.
 
The investigation has determined that an employee identified as the Treasurer of the lunch program had been fraudulently withdrawing money for her own personal use between December 2013 and October 2014. The total amount stolen is estimated at over $24,000.00.
 
On April 16, 2015, a 39-year-old female was arrested. She is facing the following charges:
 
Theft Over $5000.00
Fraud Over $5000.00
 
She was released on a Promise to Appear.
 
 
Indecent Act - C15-75714
On April 16, 2015 at 11:50 a.m., a 26-year-old female and her young child were walking in the area of Dalton Street and Church Avenue when they observed a masked male exposing himself while standing between two residences.
 
After being noticed by the victims, the male pulled-up his pants and left the area. The victims ran home and notified police. No contact was made and no injuries were reported.
 
The suspect is described as follows:
 
Male, fair complexion, in his late 20's early 30's, very tall, medium build, dark hair and wearing a green jacket/hood up, jeans and a black mask or bandana covering his face.
 
The suspect was also observed riding an older, thin framed 10 speed bike.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of Division 13 Crime Unit. Anyone with further information regarding the suspect is asked to contact investigators at 204-986-2848 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
