Drug Warrant Arrests – C15-69419
Recently, members of the District 3 Community Support Unit became involved in a narcotics investigation regarding a residence in the 500 block of Besant Street.  As a result, a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act Search Warrant was obtained.
 
On April 9th, with the assistance of Street Crime and Tactical Support Team members, the warrant was executed.

Three males (23, 25 & 27 years) and two females (27 & 28 years) have been arrested for their alleged involvement.
 
The investigation has resulted in the seizure of the following:

  • 22.9 ounces of cocaine with an estimated street value of $41,220.00
  • Approximately $20,000.00 in Canadian currency
  • Packaging materials and drug paraphernalia

Joel Richard BRUNEAU, 25 years of Winnipeg has been charged with Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - COCAINE x 2, Traffic in a Scheduled Substance (COCAINE), Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime & Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000.

He was detained in custody.
 
The four other accused were released via Promise to Appear and are facing similar drug related charges.
 
 
Suspicious Male – C15-70750
On April 9, 2015, at approximately 9:00 p.m. members of the Winnipeg Police Service were dispatched for the report of a suspicious male in the 300 block of Kingston Crescent.
 
Officers spoke with the complainant who advised that around 7:15 p.m. his daughters, aged 7 & 10 years, were playing at Kingston Park with other neighbourhood children.  An unknown male in a pick-up truck pulled up and called the children over, showing them a cat.  The male told the children he had found the cat and wanted them to go with him to help locate its home.   A nearby parent attended and began questioning the male who then fled in the truck.
 
The suspect is described as: Caucasian, 40 years of age with a medium build, brown hair and clean shaven.  He was wearing a dark jacket.
 
The vehicle is described as: Red compact two door pick-up truck bearing a Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service licence plate.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the East District Crime Unit.  Anyone who has any information regarding this incident or the identity of the suspect is asked to contact investigators at (204)986-2857 or Crime Stoppers at (204)786-TIPS (8477).
