Commercial Robbery Arrest – C14-236123
Between October 2 and October 25, 2014, several businesses were robbed of cash and cigarettes.
 
The incidents are as follows:
 
October 2nd – approx. 3:15 a.m. – Convenience store – 100 block of Keewatin Street  
October 18th – approx. 3:50 a.m. – Convenience store – 800 block of Arlington Street
October 22nd – approx.7:20 p.m. – Convenience store – 500 block of Sargent Avenue
October 25th – approx. 4:40 a.m. – Convenience store – 100 block of Keewatin Street
 
The investigation into the robberies continued by members of the Major Crimes Unit. As a result, a suspect was identified.
 
On November 4, 2014 at approximately 12:30 a.m., members of the Street Crime Unit made contact with the male while in the area of Notre Dame Avenue and Isabel Street. This contact resulted in a foot pursuit involving Street Crime Unit members and Division 11 Uniform Patrol.
 
The male was taken into custody in the area of the 600 block of Maryland Street.
 
Travis Joseph SUMNER, 26 years-old of Winnipeg has been charged with the following due to his alleged involvement:
 
Robbery x 4
Possession of a Weapon x 4
Fail to Comply Condition Recognizance x 10
 
He was detained.
