Male Shot Update - Arrest – C14-233965
As previously reported, on November 1, 2014 at approximately 3:15 a.m., emergency personnel were dispatched to the 800 block of Manitoba Avenue for the report of the sounds of shots.
 
An adult male was found suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the upper body.  He was transported to hospital in critical condition and later upgraded to stable.
 
A second adult male victim, found to be suffering non-life threatening injuries to the upper body due to being assaulted, was transported to hospital in stable condition.
 
Members of the Major Crimes Unit continued with the investigation.
 
On November 1st at approximately 2:30 p.m., a suspect was located and arrested without incident in the North End area of the city.
 
A 17-year-old male from Winnipeg has been charged with Assault with a Weapon x 2, Assault Cause Bodily Harm & Mischief Under $5000.00 for his alleged involvement.
 
He was detained at the Manitoba Youth Centre.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information regarding this matter or the identity of additional suspect(s) is asked to contact investigators at 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
 
 
Weapons Arrests – C14-234065
On November 1, 2014 at approximately 7:30 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service were dispatched to the 200 block of Edelweiss Crescent to check on the wellbeing of individuals present. Information provided was that persons unknown, possibly armed, had entered the home.
 
Several units attended and one suspect was located and arrested without incident.  Though it was revealed that a firearm had been discharged during the incident, no injuries were reported.
 
Members of the Major Crimes Unit continued with the investigation.  It was learned that the 19-year-old suspect arrested at the scene had been socializing with several people at the home.  An altercation occurred which resulted in the homeowners demanding that he leave.  The suspect later returned with two others, one armed with a firearm and all three forced their way into the home.  During the subsequent altercation between the parties, the firearm was discharged.
 
Later the same morning, investigators were able to locate the two outstanding suspects in the North End area of the city where they were arrested without incident.
 
Dakota Brent MYRAN-HARDISTY 18 years-old of Winnipeg has been charged with Assault with a Weapon, Break & Enter with Intent – Dwelling House and several weapons related offences for his alleged involvement.

Stephan Alexander Preston FLETT 19 years-old of Winnipeg has been charged with Assault, Uttering Threats and Break & Enter with Intent – Dwelling House for his alleged involvement.
 
Both were remanded into custody.
 
An 18-year-old female of Winnipeg is facing a charge of Break & Enter with Intent –Dwelling House for her alleged involvement.
 
She was released via a Promise to Appear.
 
 
Marihuana Grow Operation Arrest – R14-79758
On November 1, 2014 shortly after 8:00 a.m., while investigating an unrelated incident, members of the Winnipeg Police Service discovered a marihuana grow operation at a residence in the 300 block of College Avenue.  A lone male within the residence was arrested without incident.
 
Members of the Marihuana Grow Operation Unit continued with the investigation and obtained a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant for the residence.  The search resulted in the seizure of the following:
 

  • 43 marihuana plants with an estimated street value of $48,160.00
  • 6.5 pounds of dry marihuana with an estimated street value of $16,250.00
  • Grow operation equipment valued at $2,700.00
  • $2,160.00 in Canadian Currency

 
Due to his alleged involvement, a 51-year-old male from Winnipeg is facing charges of Produce a Scheduled Substance - CANNABIS (MARIHUANA), Possession of a Substance for the purpose of Trafficking – CANNABIS (MARIHUANA) and Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime.
 
He was released via a Promise to Appear.
 
 
Sexual Assault – C14-233957
On November 1, 2014 at approximately 7:30 a.m., a 48 year-old female was confronted by an unknown male on a bike while in the area of St. Mary Avenue and Carlton Street.
 
While the suspect was riding a bike past the victim, he proceeded to assault her to the lower body. He was last seen fleeing the area in a westbound direction on Graham Avenue.
 
The victim was not injured.
 
The suspect is described as a Caucasian male, in his twenties, medium build, short hair, wearing a light coloured baseball cap, dark jacket and black hoody.
 
He was riding a BMX style bike.
 
Members of the Division 11 Crime Unit continue to investigate. Anyone with additional information regarding this incident is asked to contact investigators at 204-986-6668 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
