Crime Prevention Tip

Summer break is about to wind up which means the school session is beginning.  This is a friendly reminder to motorists to pay extra attention in school zones.

School zone speeds are reduced to 30km/hr.  Motorists are reminded that as of September 1st, designated speed zones that are posted around schools are in effect.

Exercise caution when approaching a school bus or driving near bus stops.  NEVER pass a school bus while its lights are flashing and children are entering or exiting the bus.
You should slow down and prepare to stop.

Red flashing lights and an extended stop arm, on the bus, indicates that the bus has stopped and that children are getting on or off.

Motorists must stop their cars and wait until the red lights stop flashing, the extended stop sign is withdrawn and the bus begins moving before they can start driving again.

Please remember the safety of our young citizens that will be travelling, crossing, walking and playing in school areas.
