ROBBERY INVESTIGATION – ARREST   C13-163790
As previously released -On August 16, 2013 at approximately 12:45 a.m., officers responded to the area of Pearl Street and Notre Dame Avenue regarding a robbery incident.
 
The investigation revealed that three males were confronted by three suspects while walking in the area. Property was taken and a physical altercation erupted.
 
During the incident, one of the suspects produced a firearm, pointing it in the direction of the victims. Minor injuries were sustained as a result of a physical confrontation.
 
The firearm was discharged, grazing a 21 year-old male victim.
 
The investigation continued by members of the Major Crimes Unit.
 
Desi COURCHENE, 27 year-oldwas identified and arrested by Division 11 members on February 12, 2014.
 
He has been charged with the following offences due to his alleged involvement:
 
Possession of a Weapon
Use Firearm during Commission of an Indictable Offence
Pointing a Firearm
Carrying Concealed
Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
Possession of Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order
Discharge a Firearm with Intent
Armed Robbery using a Firearm
 
He remains in custody. 
 
 
SEXUAL ASSAULT – ARREST   C11-198424
On September 19, 2011 at approximately 1:50 p.m., a 23-year old female was walking in the area of the 300 block of Manitoba Avenue when she was confronted from behind by a male riding a bike.
 
The suspect engaged in a conversation and without warning, the victim was grabbed and forced between two garages. It was at this time the victim was sexually assaulted.
 
After the assault, the suspect fled on his bike leaving the injured victim behind.
 
The investigation continued by members of the Sex Crime Unit which resulted in the suspect being identified.
 
On February 12, 2014, Kirt CAMERON, 41 years-old was arrested and charged with the following offence due to his alleged involvement:
 
Sexual Assault
 
He remains in custody.
 
 
COMMERCIAL ROBBERIES   C14-32186 C14-32269
On February 12, 2014 at approximately 9:30 p.m., a male suspect entered a liquor store located in the 900 block of Henderson Highway.
 
The suspect attended to the counter while holding a bottle of liquor. The suspect approached a 20 year-old female clerk and advised her that if she said anything she would be harmed.
 
The suspect fled the business without paying for the merchandise.
 
On February 13, 2014 at approximately 1:40 p.m., a male suspect entered a liquor store located in the 2000 block of Henderson Highway.
 
Again, the suspect approached the counter while holding a bottle of liquor. The suspect confronted a 24 year-old female clerk and displayed a weapon that he was in possession of. The suspect fled without playing for the merchandise.
 
No one was injured in either incident.
 
The suspect is described as: Male, Aboriginal in appearance, 5'10" tall, 25-30 years-old, medium build, short black hair, goatee, acne scarring on his face and a space between his front teeth.  
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information regarding these incidents is asked to contact investigators at 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
