Sexual Assault – Arrest: R17-86530
As previously released on October 24, 2017:
On October 19, 2017, a 19-year-old female attended a walk-in medical clinic in the 300 block of Johnson Avenue West seeking treatment for an ailment. She met with a physician she had previously been treated by.
During the latest visit, the female victim was escorted to a treatment room and was left alone. A short time later, the physician entered the room and closed the door.
The victim was examined in an inappropriate manner and the examination escalated to the point that the victim was seriously sexually assaulted by the physician. The victim sustained injuries during the examination that were consistent with her account of the events.
The victim later sought treatment in hospital for her injuries and was released.
On October 20, 2017, the Winnipeg Police Service was notified and members of the Sex Crimes Unit entered into an investigation. The suspect later turned himself into police at the Headquarters building.
Amir Houshang Mazhariravesh, also known as Dr. Amir Ravesh, a 51-year-old male of Winnipeg,has been charged with Sexual Assault.
He was released on a Promise to Appear.
This investigation continued by members of the Sex Crimes Unit.
On November 2, 2017, Dr. Amir Ravesh was placed under arrest and has been charged with an additional eight counts of Sexual Assault involving eight new female victims between the ages of 24 and 69-years-old. He was also charged with one count of Obtaining Sexual Services for Consideration.
Ravesh was detained in custody.
These allegations stem from incidents in which the suspect was treating female patients as a licenced physician at a walk-in medical clinic in the 300 block of Johnson Avenue West. The incidents are alleged to have occurred between 2013 and 2017, with the most recent incident occurring in October 2017.

Weapon - Arrest: C17-24610
At approximately 5:10 p.m. Winnipeg Police received a report of a male who was possibly armed and was threatening police by stating he would ram a police vehicle. The caller had reported receiving a number of threatening text messages from a male known to them. This information was broadcast to all police units.
A short time later a marked police unit in the 400 block of Selkirk Ave. observed the suspect vehicle driving directly toward them at a high rate of speed. The vehicle stopped abruptly prior to colliding with the police car.
The adult male driver exited the vehicle armed with a knife and threatened to kill the two officers demanding they shoot him. Officers immediately recognized the male as being in emotional distress and attempted a variety of de-escalation techniques. The male then returned to his vehicle and fled, however, the vehicle became stuck in traffic allowing the responding units to box the vehicle in. The male then attempted to exit the vehicle armed with a knife. Responding officers were able to safely deploy conducted energy weapons (CEW) and arrest the suspect.
A 42-year-old male has been charged with:
- Assault Peace Officer with Weapon x 3
- Drive Impaired
- Refuse Breath Sample
- Possess Weapon
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order
- Drive Disqualified
He was detained in custody.
