New Opportunities for Engagement with the City of Winnipeg

Public Engagement Question of the Week

We our using the summer issues of the public engagement newsletter to ask questions about how and why you engage.

We have four key questions in four summer newsletters. Please take a moment to answer and give us some guidance to prioritize our efforts with improving public engagement.

Why is public engagement important to you?

Please rank the five options below and add others if you wish.

1. I feel heard.
2. I am participating in decision making.
3. I know more about what is happening in my community.
4. It shows accountability and transparency.
5. It is an opportunity to make new connections and meet new people.

Online mapping and criteria selection tools will remain open until the end of July, and the study team will be hosting pop-up engagement opportunities at community events in the study area to gain additional public input in this process.

Digital Workshop

The Eastern Corridor Study digital workshop is intended to identify important places in your community and the criteria you feel should be considered when determining the best way to connect Downtown to Eastern Winnipeg. We are excited to hear from you and include your input in the planning and design process.

Idea Wall
The Idea Wall is the best place to share your big, bold ideas for the study. It will be open throughout the project.

Mapping

The Eastern Corridor should connect places that are important to everyone. Nobody knows the community better than the people who spend time in it every day. Use the map to provide information on places that are important to you, features you like and dislike, and any information you feel would help us know more about your community. You can also vote and comment on other people's submissions.

Criteria

The criteria that will be used to develop options, and ultimately to select the recommended route alignment, will be developed with your input. We want to know about all the criteria that you think should be considered when it comes time to evaluate different locations and routes for the corridor.

Additional Study Components

Learn more about the Louise Bridge, Stadacona Street Extension, Marconi Walkway, Nairn Avenue Pedestrian Crossing and the Eastern Transit Garage, and provide your input.

Winnipeg Canoe Club Golf Course Survey

Winnipeggers are being asked to help reimagine the future of the Winnipeg Canoe Club Golf Course. In April 2019, the current lease of the course to a private operator will expire. The City of Winnipeg is seeking feedback from the public to find out how the space is currently used, and whether or not the public supports another golf course lease, or the creation of a mixed-use recreational space that includes additional services.

Winnipeggers are encouraged to provide input through an online survey. The survey will be open until September 1, 2017. Later this year, citizens will be encouraged to attend a public workshop to review and refine several different recreational concepts.
