New Opportunities for Engagement with the City of Winnipeg

Winnipeg Canoe Club Golf Course Survey

Winnipeggers are being asked to help reimagine the future of the Winnipeg Canoe Club Golf Course.

In April 2019, the current lease of the course to a private operator will expire. The City of Winnipeg is seeking feedback from the public to find out how the space is currently used, and whether or not the public supports another golf course lease, or the creation of a mixed-use recreational space that includes additional services.

Winnipeggers are encouraged to provide input through an online survey. The survey will be open until September 1, 2017.

Later this year, citizens will be encouraged to attend a public workshop to review and refine several different recreational concepts.

Ongoing Opportunities for Engagement with the City of Winnipeg.

St. John's Park Conceptual Design Survey

The City of Winnipeg is seeking public feedback on a redevelopment master plan for St. John's Park. The redevelopment features improvements on recreation and leisure options, accessibility and safety, gardens and cultural heritage within St. John's Park. The City is asking the community to share their vision for the site to ensure that the proposed redevelopment plans meet residents' visions and needs for the area.

On June 22, 2017, an open house session was held in the park to share the Park Redevelopment Master Plan conceptual designs with citizens. There were 28 people in attendance and 12 surveys were completed. If you were unable to attend, please complete an online survey. The survey will be available until Friday, July 7, 2017.

Eastern Corridor – Digital Workshop

The Eastern Corridor Study digital workshop is intended to identify important places in your community and the criteria you feel should be considered when determining the best way to connect Downtown to Eastern Winnipeg. We are excited to hear from you and include your input in the planning and design process.

Idea Wall
The Idea Wall is the best place to share your big, bold ideas for the study. It will be open throughout the project.

Mapping

The Eastern Corridor should connect places that are important to everyone. Nobody knows the community better than the people who spend time in it every day. Use the map to provide information on places that are important to you, features you like and dislike, and any information you feel would help us know more about your community. You can also vote and comment on other people's submissions.

Criteria

The criteria that will be used to develop options, and ultimately to select the recommended route alignment, will be developed with your input. We want to know about all the criteria that you think should be considered when it comes time to evaluate different locations and routes for the corridor.

Additional Study Components

Learn more about the Louise Bridge, Stadacona Street Extension, Marconi Walkway, Nairn Avenue Pedestrian Crossing and the Eastern Transit Garage, and provide your input.

The digital workshop will be available until July 31, 2017. To learn more, please visit: winnipeg.ca/easterncorridor.

Engagement updates

Feedback on 2018 Budget priorities and preferences released

The final report on the 2018 Budget Public Engagement, summarizing what we heard from Winnipeggers to help inform the budget process, is now available on the City of Winnipeg's website.

Through the public engagement for the 2018 Budget, the City interacted with over 900 residents at pop-up events, received over 250 surveys from the public, 76 ideas posted to the idea wall, and 52 submissions to the budget allocator tool, while over 600 employees completed and submitted an internal survey.

The feedback received will help the City to develop a budget that reflects Winnipeggers' priorities and preferences for key services and infrastructure while investing in the future of our city.

If you participated in the 2018 budget process, we are interested in your feedback so we can evaluate the budget engagement process. Please complete a survey to provide your comments.

Bishop Grandin Walk Bike Bridge over Pembina Highway Public Engagement Summary now available

The City of Winnipeg is committed to building pedestrian and cycling infrastructure for people of all ages and abilities. Through this project, a preliminary design for a new Bishop Grandin Walk Bike Bridge over Pembina Highway will be developed. The City of Winnipeg is conducting a study to plan for complete roadway and overpass improvements on these streets, while also taking an opportunity to create new and improve existing cycling and pedestrian facilities in the study area. This study will develop a preliminary design for the project with construction planned for the 2017 and 2018 seasons.
