City of Winnipeg - Public Engagement News

New Opportunities for Engagement with the City of Winnipeg

The City of Winnipeg is inviting citizens to engage on a variety of City initiatives. Please read below for current engagement opportunities, both in person and online.

Heritage Conservation District Study – Armstrong's Point

Armstrong's Point has a number of attributes that could merit a potential Heritage District including a cohesive stock of heritage homes, associations with prominent Winnipeggers, unique streetscapes and layout, and distinct geographic boundaries.

We encourage citizens to engage by:

  • Attending a workshop which will include a presentation of a neighbourhood analysis conducted this past summer as well as confirming the next steps in the study.

The workshop will be held on Thursday, October 15, 2015 from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at the Westminster United Church (745 Westminster Avenue). Please RSVP by October 12, 2015 to 204-944-9907 or info@htfc.mb.ca.

Visit City of Winnipeg – Heritage Conservation District Study for more information.

Walk Bike Projects

The City of Winnipeg is inviting the public to attend open houses about developing a plan for two pedestrian and cycling projects: the Downtown Bike Lane System and the West Alexander Pedestrian and Cycling Corridor.

These events are the beginning of the community engagement process for the projects and will allow you to share your thoughts on the future designs with the planners and engineers. Before beginning to design the specific plans, we want to meet with you and learn from you about what is important to you as we move forward with these projects.

The Brady Road Resource Management Facility has undergone many improvements in order to decrease its impact on both the environment and the communities that surround it. Information will also be provided on the new 4R Winnipeg Depot, which is currently under construction at the facility.

4R Winnipeg Depots are places where residents can drop off material that they no longer have use for, but could be recycled, reused, composted, or resold.

Ongoing Opportunities for Engagement with the City of Winnipeg

CPR Yards Crossing Study – Arlington Bridge Solutions

The Arlington Bridge is coming to the end of its useable life and fixing it is not possible. The goal of this study is to determine the best possible plan to move people and goods safely and efficiently across the CPR Yards when the Arlington Bridge closes.

Open houses were held in September but there is still time to provide your feedback through our virtual open house.

We encourage citizens to engage on this project by:

  • Visiting cprcrossing.winnipeg.ca and clicking on the button in the top right-hand corner to view the open house materials and provide your feedback online by October 16, 2015.

Visit City of Winnipeg – CPR Yards Crossing Study for more information.
