Eastern Corridor Study, Development Notification, and Recreation and Parks

City of Winnipeg - Public Engagement News

New Opportunities for Engagement with the City of Winnipeg

Eastern Corridor Study potential route options

You're invited to review and provide feedback on potential route options for the Eastern Rapid Transit Corridor at a series of public open houses from Monday, June 18 to Thursday, June 21, 2018. Members of the Eastern Corridor Study project team will be on hand to answer questions and gather input at the following in-person engagement opportunities. Open house details are available on the project website.

If you are unable to attend, please visit the website and provide feedback on the potential route options using the online mapping tool: winnipeg.ca/easterncorridor.

Development Application Notification Review survey

Please take the time to provide input on how the City of Winnipeg provides notification for land development applications through an online survey. Input will be considered as part of a review of the City's land development application notification processes. Land development notification includes the ways the public is told about applications for both minor and major land development, including variances, conditional uses, rezoning, and subdivision of land.  The public is currently notified of land development through newspaper advertisements and on-site postings, depending on the type of development.

The online survey asks for input on types of notification you would like to see, how you would like to be notified of land development applications in their area, and how you would like notifications to look. The survey will be open until June 18, 2018. For more information, please visit winnipeg.ca/devnotificationreview.

Recreation and Parks Strategies open houses

Join us at an upcoming open house to provide input on your priorities for the development of the Recreation and Parks Strategies. The Strategies will provide a 25-year framework to help guide recreation and parks programs, services, policies, standards and procedures, and future investment in existing and new infrastructure.

We will also be accepting feedback through an online survey until June 30, 2018. For open house details and more information, please visit winnipeg.ca/RecandParks.

Ongoing Opportunities for Engagement with the City of Winnipeg

Finestone Park Survey

Thank you to those who attended the public workshop on May 31, 2018. Over 25 community members attended and provided their ideas for the redevelopment of Finestone Park.

If you were unable to attend, take the online survey to provide your input on future park enhancements. The survey will be open until June 14, 2018. For more information, please visit winnipeg.ca/FinestonePark.

Osborne to Downtown Walk Bike Bridge and Connections phase 2 engagement

Thank you to the 53 people who joined us for a public workshop on June 5, 2018. If you were unable to attend, there is still an opportunity to provide feedback on bridge, park, and cycling connection concepts. Please read through the updated project tabs and take a few minutes to fill out the latest interactive online survey. The survey will be open until June 12, 2018.

Engagement Updates

North District Police Station public engagement summary

Thank you to everyone who provided feedback through stakeholder meetings, the online survey, and at the public workshop. Over 50 community members attended the workshop, and over 200 surveys were submitted. The outcome of stakeholder assessment and public engagement activities in summer and fall of 2017, which proposed a partial repurposing of City land at the Old Exhibition Grounds, served to identify that a significant number of residents and organized community groups do not support North District Police Station being built at this location. The public service will now be considering other options for a preferred development site.

Feedback from stakeholder engagement activities, the community workshop, and the online survey was compiled and analyzed to produce the Public Engagement Summary. For more information, please visit winnipeg.ca/NorthDistrictStation.
