Crime Prevention Tip

Take Action

  Protect Yourself from Pickpockets

The summer season brings with it fantastic festivals – and large crowds – to our community. During the busy season of celebrations, it's important to be mindful of your possessions at all times at special events.

It takes but a moment to have someone steal your possession

Take Action to protect yourself and discourage pickpockets.

  • Keep purses secure and carry wallets in an inside or front pocket.
  • Carry only what you need with you
  • If you must bring a bag with you carry it in front of you with flaps against your body.
  • Make sure all of the pockets on your bag are completely closed
  • Don't show your money — keep it safely in your pocket.
  • Keep your money in a hard-to-reach place
  • As much as you can avoid the display of jewelry.
  • In a crowd, pay attention to your surroundings especially when someone is standing very close to you or when you are jostled.

Crime prevention starts with you!
