Smoking on Outdoor Patios at Restaurants and Bars By-law Review Update

In the fall of 2017, stakeholder meetings, an online survey and a statistically significant telephone survey were held to gather public input on patio smoking at restaurants and bars in Winnipeg. A Public Engagement Summary and full Public Engagement Report are now available and provide a summary of the public engagement process undertaken and the feedback collected for the review.

An administrative report outlining recommendations on how to move forward with regulating smoking on outdoor patios and a review of practices in other Canadian cities has been developed. The report will be presented at the January 9, 2018 Standing Policy Committee on Protection, Community Services, and Parks.

To learn more about the Smoking on Outdoor Patios at Restaurants and Bars By-law Review, please visit winnipeg.ca/PatioSmokingReview.
