Crime Prevention Tip

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month

Here are some tips on precautions you could take in order to stay safe:

  • Tell a trusted friend or family member where you are going and the approximate time frame you will be gone.
  • If you're going to a party, go with people you trust.  Agree to watch out for each other and plan to leave together.  If your plans change, make sure to touch base with the other people in your group.  Don't leave someone stranded in an unfamiliar or unsafe situation.
  • When out partying protect your drink, don't leave your drink unattended even if it's to go to the bathroom and do not accept drinks or food from strangers.
  • If you meet someone online avoid sharing personal information.
  • Always be alert at all times and have a well thought out safety plan.
  • If you feel unsafe in any situation or there is an emergency, call 911.  It is free from any landline and cell phone.
