Crime Prevention Tip

The month of August has provided Winnipeg with some spectacular summer weather.  This has resulted in citizens of all ages being  able to enjoy the outdoors.  Winnipeg Police Service reminds  Motorists, Cyclists, and Pedestrians to be vigilant when out and about.  Some handy tips are as follows:

  • When crossing the street with young children, be sure to hold their hand.
  • Instruct children on how to cross the street safely (visually clear the street BOTH ways)

  • Cyclists are encouraged to wear appropriate protective gear, and use the proper hand signaling when in traffic. *****It is strongly advised not to wear ear buds*****

  • Motorists should always operate their vehicle without distraction by other items (electronics, etc)
  • Motorists should be vigilant and maintain good eye lead when travelling in residential areas.   Children may enter the roadway at anytime (ie: chase after a toy or ball that has entered the roadway).

***If Citizens choose to partake in "Pokemon Go", they must  ALWAYS be aware of their surrounding environment, and potential hazards while participating in said past time. It is strongly recommend that an adult accompany children who are participating in said activity.*****
