Public invited to open house about the proposed park plan for the East End Cultural & Leisure Centre greenspace

Winnipeggers are invited to attend a public open house to view the proposed park plan for the East End Cultural & Leisure Centre greenspace and active transportation connection.

In 2011, the Elmwood Recreation Review was completed. This review analyzed the condition of all Elmwood recreation amenities and prioritized improvements at each amenity location. As part of the Review, a draft concept plan was developed for the East End Culture & Leisure Centre site.

The second part of this plan is an active transportation connection which connects 575 Larsen to the Northeast Pioneers Greenway.

The City of Winnipeg is inviting citizens to provide their feedback on the second part of the plan by attending an open house or completing an online survey.

Public invited to open house on the North St. Boniface Secondary Plan and Boulevard Provencher Planned Development Overlay

The North St. Boniface Secondary Plan is a vision to guide future growth and change in the area while applying principles from OurWinnipeg, the City's long range development plan. The Plan also outlines the City's commitments and priorities over the next 20 years for land use, transportation, services, and parks and open space in the area.

The purpose of the Boulevard Provencher PDO is to encourage the protection of Boulevard Provencher with its cultural and historic significance to the French community as the main street for the neighbourhood of St. Boniface. The PDO provides specific regulations for land use, signage and parking for the area.

Public invited to provide feedback on residential parking permit and loading zone programs

The Winnipeg Parking Authority (WPA) is currently reviewing its delivery of the residential parking permit and loading zone programs. Winnipeggers are invited to provide their feedback on these programs through online surveys or at upcoming pop-up public engagement events.

The residential parking permit program allows residents to park for longer durations than normally allowed in on-street time-limited parking areas. Through the permit program, local residents can be exempted from time restrictions, which allow them to park close to home for an unrestricted length of time. Loading zones are designated on-street curb spaces that are signed for short-term use by vehicles, restricting the availability of on-street parking for general use. Loading zones may be installed to accommodate dropping off and picking up passengers with limited mobility and/or to accommodate short-term use to load or unload goods.

North Winnipeg Antenna System Project Public Information Session

The City of Winnipeg must remove an existing antenna system, used by a number of City departments, located at the North End Water Pollution Control Centre (2230 Main Street), before the end of the year to accommodate the future expansion of the North End Water Pollution Control Centre scheduled to begin in 2017.

To ensure there are no gaps in coverage, a proposed antenna system must be built in the vicinity of the existing antenna system by the end of 2016, and prior to its decommissioning. A proposed, lower, 120 metre tall antenna system will be constructed, pending Industry Canada approval of the City's proposal.

Nearby City-owned property at the south east corner of Murray Avenue and Ferrier Street is being proposed as the location for the installation of the proposed antenna system.

Any member of the public or organization who wishes to provide questions, comments or concerns in writing must do so by June 26, 2016.
