Sunday, May 15, 2016 Shooting C16-96890 On May 15, 2016, at approximately 6:30 a.m. Winnipeg Police were altered to a serious incident that had just occurred. Three victims had attended to a hospital emergency room for treatment. Two of the adult victims, one female and one male, were suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper body. A third victim, a male youth, was suffering from non-life-threatening injuries also sustained in the incident. He was treated and released. The two adult victims remain hospitalized in stable condition with serious injuries. Police have learned that the victims were shot at while in a vehicle in the area of Magnus Avenue and Aikins Street. The driver of this vehicle was able to transport the victims to hospital immediately after the shooting. Police are unable to release suspect descriptions at this time. This investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information that may assist investigators is asked to call 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477). Assault with Weapon C1696571 On May 14, 2016, at approximately 8:45 p.m. Winnipeg Police responded at in assault that had occurred in the 800 block of McDermot Avenue. A 60-year-old male was working in the area when he observed a male youth on the property wearing a balaclava. The victim asked the youth to leave the grounds because they were private property. In response, the suspect attacked the victim with a machete and fled. The victim sustained a non-life-threatening injury that did not require medical treatment. Police searched the area and located a suspect a short distance away. A 17-year-old male youth was arrested.
