Winnipeg Police Service Move To New Headquarters The Winnipeg Police Service is pleased to announce the Service will officially take possession of the new Headquarters facility, located at 245 Smith, effective December 15, 2015.
It is expected the Service will begin the physical move on Monday, December 21st when Divisions and Units from across the Service will begin migrating to the new site on a staggered basis.
"I can't help but note that December 22 is the winter solstice, the official beginning of a new season," says Chief Devon Clunis. "It appropriately opens the beginning of a new chapter in the history of the Winnipeg Police Service."
The move to the new headquarters will result in three out of every four Winnipeg Police Service members working out of one central facility. Once complete, operations from eight facilities will be housed at the new location.
The new Winnipeg Police Service Headquarters will house 14 divisions. The building has been redeveloped to 'as-new' condition and provides approximately 630,925 square feet of space. The building has an estimated useful life of 50 years. The initial moves will have no impact on the Service's current model of service to the public.
The Service will keep the public apprised of moves that will impact service delivery such as the move of our Downtown Service Centre, Recruiting and Criminal Background Check service.
