News Release - Winnipeg Police Service

Sunday, December 3, 2017 Disturbance: C17-271303 On December 2, 2017, at approximately 11:10 a.m., Winnipeg Police responded to a business in the 800 block of Main Street regarding a male who was causing a disturbance and armed with a weapon. Police were told that the male had been removed from a neighbouring business a short time earlier, also for brandishing a weapon.  Bystanders were able to disarm the male and restrain him prior to police arrival. Officers arriving at the scene took control of the male, however, the subject experienced a medical emergency. Officers administered first aid, and contacted EMS. Responding members from the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service continued to administer treatment.  The subject, a male in his 30's, was transported to hospital, where he remains in critical condition. Investigators believe this male had interactions with a number of people in the area prior to police arrival.
