Crime Prevention Tip

With summer holidays continuing for another month, a lot of people may be taking vacation time for an extended period.  This means that homes will be left unattended and could be targeted for break in's.  To help prevent this from happening, here are some tips to consider before leaving:

  • Ensure all windows and doors are locked.
  • Use timers on internal lights, television and/or radio.
  • Keep your grass mowed and if gone for a longer period of time, arrange for someone to mow it for you.
  • Have someone check your house and bring in the mail every day.
  • Let your neighbors know how long you plan to be away.
  • Park a vehicle in your driveway.
  • Cancel any paper deliveries, so that they don't pile up in the mail box.
  • If possible, have someone stay in your home.

Enjoy the rest of your summer!  Stay Safe!
