If you do become a victim of fraud
- Start a log of dates, person(s) that you spoke to and exactly what was said to you
- Contact Equifax 1-800-465-7166
- Contact Trans Union 1-800-663-9980
- Contact your local Police Agency
- Contact your financial institutions, creditors, service providers or anything else that may have been affected by Identity Theft or Fraud
- Contact the Canada Anti-Fraud Centre (CAFC)
- Continue to be aware of mail, phone calls, emails, etc. received
Be aware that you may be directed to make a report in person at your local police service station. Depending on the circumstances, the call taker may direct you to notify the Canada Anti-Fraud Centre, your financial institution and/or make a report in person.
