Update - Homicide Investigation Arrest – C15-113544
As previously released – On June 2, 2015 at approximately 12:30 p.m., emergency personnel responded to the area of Kingsway and Stafford Street regarding an altercation and stabbing incident.
 
The investigation has revealed that a minor altercation occurred between a 16-year-old male student and 17-year-old male former student on the grounds of Kelvin High School. The 16-year-old male involved disengaged at which time a third male intervened. During that time the third male allegedly stabbed 17-year-old, Brett BOURNE causing critical injuries. He was later pronounced deceased in hospital.
 
As a result of the incident area schools were placed into lockdown.
 
Patrol and members of the Tactical Support Team secured the area. Numerous individuals were identified and interviewed throughout the evening by members of the Homicide Unit. As a result of those interviews, a 17-year old male was identified as a suspect and subsequently arrested in relation to the homicide.
 
The 17-year-old male youth has been charged with 2nd Degree Murder due to his alleged involvement. 
 
 
Commercial Robbery Arrests – C15-113725
On June 2, 2015 at approximately 4:30 p.m., an armed male suspect, while concealing his identity entered a jewellery store located in the 2000 block of Pembina Highway.
 
The suspect confronted a store clerk and demanded merchandise. The suspect smashed the display case and removed a large quantity of jewellery.
 
An altercation erupted at which time the clerk remotely locked the front doors. The suspect was unable to exit when he began ransacking the store.
The suspect eventually exited the business and fled the area in a Ford Edge.
 
Members of the Major Crimes Unit with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team, Street Crime Unit and Canine Unit located the suspect(s) and vehicle. At approximately 10:10 p.m., officers safely stopped the vehicle in the area of Provencher Boulevard and Tache Avenue. Two occupants were taken into custody.
 
Robert SAUER, 24-years-old was arrested and charged with the following due to his alleged involvement:
 
Armed robbery using a firearm
Disguise with intent
Use of firearm during commission of an indictable offence
Carless use of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
Possession of a weapon
Carrying concealed weapon prohibited device or ammunition
Unauthorized possession of a firearm
Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition
Possession of a firearm, prohibited or restricted weapon obtained by crime
 
Madeline WIGHT, 22-years-old,has been charged with armed robbery using a firearm due to her alleged involvement. 
 
John STENGEL, 29-years-old was arrested a short time later at a residence on Doucet Street. He has been charged with the following due to his alleged involvement:
 
Armed robbery using a firearm
Use of firearm during commission of an indictable offence
Carless use of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
Possession of a weapon
Carrying concealed weapon prohibited device or ammunition
Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized
Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition
Possession of a firearm, prohibited or restricted weapon obtained by crime
Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order x 4
 
All three were remanded into custody.
 
 
Assaults with a Weapon Investigation - C15-115007
On June 4, 2015 at approximately 1:10 a.m., officers in the area of Carlton Street and Cumberland Avenue observed a disturbance in progress and further investigated.
 
It was determined that three adult males had been assaulted, one was stabbed and two were suffering from the effects of pepper spray. As a result, members of the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service were notified.
 
All three victims were determined to be in stable condition.
 
A lone male suspect on a bike confronted the group and fled. Members of the Division 11 Crime Unit continue to investigate.

Serious Assault Investigation – C15-115053
On June 4, 2015 at approximately 3:35 a.m., officers and members of the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to the 200 block of Dufferin Avenue regarding an injured male.
 
An adult male was located suffering from serious injuries. He was transported in critical condition.  
 
Investigators are conducting numerous interviews at this time.
