STOLEN VEHICLE /MOTOR VEHICLE COLLSION – ARREST C12-188685 C12-189284
On September 19, 2012, at approximately 11:35 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service were travelling southbound on Sturgeon Road from Inkster Boulevard when they observed a northbound Jeep Cherokee travelling at a high rate of speed.

Officers turned around and due to the excessive speed of the suspect vehicle, a significant distance was created. Officers noted that the driver was swerving in and out of traffic on multiple occasions placing members of the public at risk. The suspect vehicle proceeded eastbound onto Inkster Boulevard continuing to drive in an erratic manner. The suspect vehicle eventually collided with a tractor trailer that was travelling in a westbound direction. As a result of the collision, the suspect vehicle rolled and came to rest in the ditch on the north side of Inkster Boulevard.

WPS members attended the scene and located the driver of the Jeep Cherokee. He was in stable condition. The occupants of the tractor trailer were not injured.

The investigation has revealed that the Jeep Cherokee and license plates had previously been stolen from the Winnipeg area on September 18, 2012.
