STOLEN VEHICLE – ARRESTS C12-248707
On December 10, 2012, at approximately 1:00 a.m., Uniform Patrol members were dispatched to the area of the 700 block of Nassau Street South after Flight Operation Unit members (Air1) observed a suspicious vehicle.
 
Initially, Air1 observed the vehicle being operated in a suspicious manner while driving up and down several back lanes in the area. A short time later, the suspect vehicle collided with a parked car subsequently fleeing the area.
 
While Uniform Patrol members, including members of the Canine Unit were attending to the area, Air1 continued to follow the fleeing vehicle to the 300 block of Maplewood Avenue. Air1 observed two occupants exit the vehicle and flee on foot.
 
With support from Air1, Uniform Patrol members and members of the Canine Unit located and arrested a 16 year old male and 12 year old male at a residence nearby.
 
Further investigation confirmed that the vehicle (Ford Freestar) had been recently stolen from the Riverview area.
 
The 16 year old is facing the following charges: Motor vehicle theft, Failure to remain at the scene of an accident and exchange particulars and Drive without a licence (HTA).
 
The 12 year old is facing the following charge: Motor vehicle theft.
 
Both males were released on a Promise to Appear.
 
 
COMMERCIAL ROBBERY C12-249268
On December 10, 2012, at approximately 10:10 p.m., officers responded to a business located in the 300 block of Marion Street regarding a robbery incident that just occurred.
 
The investigation has revealed that two suspects entered the business and confronted a 27 year old male employee. The suspects demanded money and fled after robbing the business of an undisclosed amount of cash.
 
No injuries were reported.
 
The suspects are described as:
 
1 – Aboriginal in appearance, 5'9"-6'00" tall, slim to medium build, in possession of a knife at the time of the incident.
 
2 – Medium build and 6"00" tall.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information regarding this matter is asked to contact police at 204 986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204 786-TIPS (8477).
