Winnipeg Police Service News Release:

HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION C12-217005
On October 26, 2012, at approximately 6:30 p.m., Winnipeg Police Service members, including other emergency personnel responded to the area of the 500 block of Sargent Avenue regarding reports of an injured male.
 
Attending members located a 39 year old male with serious upper body injuries consistent with being stabbed. The male was transported from the scene and later pronounced deceased.
 
The name of the deceased will not be released at this time.
 
Members of the Homicide Unit have been notified and continue to investigate.
 
An autopsy is pending.  
 
Anyone with information regarding this matter is asked to contact police at 204 986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204 786-TIPS (8477).

SEXUAL ASSAULT INVESTIGATION - ARRESTS
C12-98810
In May 2012, members of the Winnipeg Police Service became involved in an investigation regarding a sexual assault involving a 30 year old female victim.
 
It was reported that the victim attended to the residence of a male and female acquaintance. While at the residence, a substance was administered rendering the victim unconscious. When the victim woke up, she discovered that she had been sexually assaulted.
 
The victim notified police of the incident and an investigation was launched by members of the WPS Sex Crimes Unit.
 
Upon completion of the investigating, the file was submitted for Crown Opinion. On October 15, 2012, charges were authorized.
 
On October 24, 2012, a male and female were arrested.
 
Richard Robert GORDON, 45 years has been charged with: Sexual Assault and Administering Noxious Thing with Intent to Endanger Life or Cause Bodily Harm due to his alleged involvement.
 
Jackie Erin BURGOYNE, 34 years has been charged with: Sexual Assault due to her alleged involvement.
 
Both were released on a Promise to Appear.

MISSING PERSON – DAYNA RYLE – R120111593
The Winnipeg Police Service is requesting the public's assistance in locating 19 year old Dayna RYLE. RYLE was last seen on Monday, October 15, 2012 in the North End area of Winnipeg.
 
RYLE is described as: Aboriginal, 5'1" tall, 122lbs, with dark brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a blue Adidas track suit.
 
 
 
The Winnipeg Police Service is concerned for her wellbeing.
 
Anyone with information regarding RYLE'S whereabouts is asked to contact the Winnipeg Police Service 986-6222 or the Missing Persons Unit at 986-6250.

DRUG INVESTIGATION – ARRESTS R12-108710
As a result of a lengthy investigation by members of the Winnipeg Police Service Drug Unit, with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team, Vice Unit, and Uniform Patrol members, three Controlled Drug and Substance Act Search Warrants were recently executed.
 
Warrants were executed at the following residences on October 24, 2012, at approximately 8:15 a.m., at which time illegal drugs and weapons were located and seized.
 
A side by side commercial building located in the 400 block of Brooklyn Street (two addresses):
 
464 Marihuana plants – estimated street value $519,680.00
Grow Operation equipment valued at $15,000.00
 
Two occupants were located inside the premises and arrested.
 
A residence located in the 800 block of Borebank Street:
 
12 gauge shotgun
.300 calibre rifle
30.06 calibre rifle
A quantity of ammunition
 
No one was located in the residence at the time the warrant was executed.
 
Reid Garry SCHINDLE, 63 years and Theodore Devron LEE, 37 years have been charged with numerous drug and firearm related offences due to their alleged involvement.
 
Both males were detained.

MULTIPLE MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISIONS - ROAD CLOSURE C12-216532
On October 26, 2012, at approximately 6:50 a.m., emergency personnel responded to the area of Lagimodiere Boulevard and Concordia Avenue as a result of multiple motor vehicle collisions.
 
North and southbound Lagimodiere Boulevard is closed to traffic at this time. Motorists are requested to avoid the area and consider alternate routes.
 
As a result of some recent snowfall, including cooler temperatures, slippery conditions are present on roadways, especially bridges.  
 
The Winnipeg Police Service is recommending that all motorists use extreme caution by reducing their speeds.
 
Please Drive Safe.
