PUBLIC ASSISTANCE REQUIRED – STABBING INVESTIGATION C12-73742
As previously released, on April 24, 2012, at approximately 2:30 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service and other emergency personnel responded to the area of Notre Dame Avenue and Balmoral Street regarding a stabbing incident.
 
Medical personnel located an injured 26 year old male lying in the roadway that was initially observed by a passerby.
 
Officers secured the area, however no arrests have been made at this time.
 
Members of the Winnipeg Police Service Division 11 Crime Unit with the assistance of the Forensic Identification Section continue to investigate.
 
Investigators are seeking the public's assistance regarding this matter. Anyone who may have been in the area and has any information regarding the incident is asked to contact police at 204-986-6668 or CrimeStoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
  
FIRE C12-74225
On April, 24, 2012 at approximately 7:40 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service and other emergency personnel responded to the north river bank near the walking path at the Forks for a working fire.
 
Several portable docks located at this location were engulfed in flames, which spread to a number of trees in the surrounding area. Damage is estimated at approximately $30,000.00. No injuries have been reported.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Arson Strike Force.

COMMERCIAL ROBBERY – ARRESTS C12-74234
On April 24, 2012, at approximately 8:00 p.m., Uniform Patrol members responded to a business located in the 500 block of Panet Road regarding a robbery incident.
 
The investigation has revealed that two armed male suspects, while concealing their identity, entered the store and confronted a 23 year old male employee. Both suspects proceeded behind the counter and obtained undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes prior to fleeing. The victim was not injured.
 
Due to the efforts of Uniform Patrol members and the Canine Unit, both suspects were located and arrested a short time later in the area of Talbot Avenue and Kent Road.
 
The investigation continued by members of the Major Crimes Unit. A full recovery of the stolen property and weapons used by the suspects was made.  
 
Dustine Tyler BRUNEAU, 20 years has been charged with the following offences due to his alleged involvement: Robbery with a Weapon and Disguise with Intent.
 
Sheldon Luke FREDETTE, 22 years has been charged with the following offences due to his alleged involvement: Robbery with a Weapon, Disguise with Intent, Fail to Comply with Condition Recognizance and Breach Probation x 2.
 
Both were detained at the Provincial Remand Centre.
 
 
DRUG AND WEAPON ARREST C12-74343
On April 24, 2012, at approximately 10:47 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service Street Crime Unit initiated a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle and occupant in the 500 block of Sargent Avenue. It was determined the vehicle plates had previously been stolen. 
 
After further investigation, officers located and seized the following items from within the vehicle:
 
·        Machete  
·        Knife
·        .22 Calibre Ammunition X 45
·        Shotgun Shells X 4
·        2.46 grams of Methamphetamine - estimated street value of $240.00
·        4 grams of Marihuana - estimated street value of $40.00
·        $267.00 - Canadian Currency
·        Miscellaneous Drug Paraphernalia
 
A 28 year old male is facing the following charges:
 
·        Possess Weapon for Dangerous Purpose x 2
·        Possession Firearm/Ammunition while Prohibited x 2
·        Possess for Purpose of Trafficking  
·        Possession of Drug or Substance  
·        Possess Proceeds of Crime
·        Possess Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000.00
·        Fail to Comply Condition of Undertaking
·        Drive Disqualified (Highway Traffic Act)
 
The male has been released on a Promise to Appear.

STABBING C12-73742
On April 24, 2012, at approximately 2:30 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service and other emergency personnel responded to the area of Notre Dame Avenue and Balmoral Street regarding a stabbing incident.

STABBING C12-73380
On April 23, 2012, at approximately 3:30 p.m., officers responded to back lane near the 500 block of Manitoba Avenue regarding an injured male.
 
The victim has been identified as a 15 year old male who has sustained multiple injuries consistent with being stabbed.
 
No arrests have been made at this time. The investigation is continuing by members of the Division 13 Crime Unit.

FIRE C12-73740
On April 24, 2012, at approximately 2:30 a.m., emergency personnel responded to a working fire in the area of the 600 block of McMillan Avenue.
 
No serious injuries have been reported.
 
Damage to two residences is estimated at $600,000.00 and $400,000.00. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
 
Members of the Arson Strike Force continue investigate.
 
 
PROJECT FLATLINED - UPDATE
On April 23, 2012, at approximately 5:30 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service located 34 year old, Adam Matthew WOOD in the Crestview area of the city.
 
He was arrested and has been charged with the following:
 
·        Participate in a Criminal Organization
·        Trafficking in Controlled Drug or Substance (Cocaine) x 5
·        Possess Proceeds of Crime
·        Commission of Offence for Criminal Organization
·        Fail to Comply with Condition Recognizance
 
He was detained.
 
 
COMMERCIAL ROBBERY - ARRESTS C12-73060 C12-73724
As previously released, on April 23, 2012, at approximately 2:00 a.m., officers responded to a commercial robbery at a convenience store located in the 700 block of Mountain Avenue.
 
Attending members discovered that a lone male suspect entered the store and attended behind the till area. It was at this time the male began removing an undisclosed amount of cigarettes prior to fleeing. The suspect was not observed to be armed and no one was injured as a result. Two employees were present at the time, a 50 year old male and 61 year old female.
 
 
On April 24, 2012, at approximately 1:40 a.m., two armed suspects attended to the same convenience store while concealing their identity. The suspects confronted two employees and demanded cash and cigarettes. An undisclosed amount was obtained.
 
Upon exiting the business, the two suspects were observed by patrolling members of the Winnipeg Police Service. After a brief foot pursuit, both suspects were apprehended.
 
The investigation continued by members of the Major Crimes Unit.
 
An 18 year old male is facing numerous charges in relation to both incidents which include: Robbery with Weapon, Robbery and Disguise with Intent x 2, including numerous Failure to Comply.
 
A 20 year old male is facing the following charges regarding the most recent incident: Robbery with a Weapon, Disguise with Intent and Breach of Probation.    
 
Both were detained.

PROJECT FLATLINED - UPDATE
As previously released, in May 2011, the Winnipeg Police Service Organized Crime Unit initiated an investigation into the criminal activity of a specific cell within the Manitoba chapter of the Hells Angels and the Redlined puppet club. As a result of the investigation, Project Flatlined was commenced in September 2011. 
 
On April 22, 2012, Shawn Justin COLBERT, 30 years of Winnipeg turned himself into police at which time he was arrested.
 
He has been charged with the following offences and detained at the Provincial Remand Centre.
 
  • Traffic cocaine X 8; possess proceeds of crime; conspiracy to commit indictable offence; participate in & commission of offence for criminal organization.

ARMED AND BARRICADED - ARREST C12-72859
On April 22, 2012, at approximately 6:45 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a residence located in the 100 block of Eaglemere Drive regarding a domestic situation.
 
The investigation has revealed that a 48 year old male was armed with a firearm and refusing to cooperate with officers. As a result, the Incident Command Structure was initiated, utilizing Uniform Patrol Members, Crisis Negotiators, Tactical Support Team and the Canine Unit.
 
Due to the efforts of numerous officers, at approximately 12:10 a.m., the male was safely taken into custody. A firearm and ammunition was seized at that time.
 
The firearm was not discharged and no one was injured.
 
The male remains in police custody and is facing weapon related charges.

Winnipeg Police Service News Release

 

Sunday, April 22nd, 2012

 
FATAL MOTOR VEHICLE COLLSION              C12-72299
On April 21st, 2012 at approximately 8:40 p.m. emergency services responders were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision that had just occurred in the area of St. Anne's Road and Worthington Avenue. 
 
Upon arrival officers located two vehicles, a Chevrolet Cavalier and a City of Winnipeg transit bus. The adult male driver of the Cavalier, which had extensive front end damage, was transported to the hospital in critical condition where he succumbed to his injuries. 
 
There were no other reported injuries.  
 
This investigation is continuing by members of the Central Traffic Unit.

MISSING PERSON– LEAH MACLEOD              R12-28981
The Winnipeg Police Service is requesting the public's assistance in locating a missing 17 year old female, Leah MacLeod.  MACLEOD was last seen on February 28th, 2012 in the area of Burrows Avenue and Tyndall Avenue. 
 
 
 
MACLEOD is described as Caucasian, 5'6" tall, approximately 130 pounds with medium length brown hair and blue eyes.  MACLEOD may be wearing glasses. 
 
Investigators are concerned for her well-being. 
 
MACLEOD is believed to possibly be in the Vancouver, British Columbia area.  Any assistance from media outlets in the Vancouver area would be appreciated.  
 
Anyone with information regarding MACLEOD's whereabouts is asked to contact the Winnipeg Police Service Missing Persons Unit at 204-986-6250. 
 
 
PROJECT FLATLINED- ARREST WARRANTS
As previously released, in May 2011, the Winnipeg Police Service Organized Crime Unit initiated an investigation into the criminal activity of a specific cell within the Manitoba chapter of the Hells Angels and the Redlined puppet club.  As a result of the investigation, Project Flatlined was commenced in September 2011. 
 
Between September 3rd, 2011 and February 29th, 2012 members of the Winnipeg Police Service, with assistance of the Integrated Proceeds of Crime Unit, utilized numerous techniques to gather evidence supporting various charges including;
 
-          Trafficking narcotics
-          Possession of proceeds of crime
-          Laundering proceeds of crime &
-          Participation in an Criminal Organization
 
Search warrants were executed and as a result of the continued investigation 23 individuals have been arrested in connection with this project. 
 
The following outstanding individuals are wanted on arrest warrants:
 
 
 
Adam Matthew Wood, 34 years of Winnipeg
Trafficking cocaine X 5; fail to comply recognizance; possess proceeds of crime; and participate in & commission of offence for criminal organization
 
 
 
Shawn Justin COLBERT, 30 years of Winnipeg
 Traffic cocaine X 8; possess proceeds of crime; conspiracy to commit indictable offence; participate in & commission of offence for criminal organization
 

Jesse Richard Thomas, 27 years of Winnipeg
 Order Sec. 810.01 Participate or contribute to activities of Criminal Organization
 
 
Jared James IRVING, 26 years of Winnipeg
Order Sec. 810.01 Participate or contribute to activities of criminal organization
 
All efforts to locate the above noted individuals have been unsuccessful.

Winnipeg Police Service News Release

 

  Friday, April 20th, 2012 

 
FIRE INVESTIGATION- UPDATE                C12-70564
As previously released, on Thursday, April 19th, 2012 at approximately 9:30 a.m. emergency services responders were dispatched to the area of Notre Dame Avenue and Albert Street for the report of a working fire. 
 
Upon arrival, fire fighters worked quickly in an attempt to contain the fire within the 100 block of Albert Street.  The fire caused extensive damage to the properties with the total loss estimated to be $630,000.  
 
The continued investigation by members of the Arson Strike Force and the Office of the Fire Commissioner has revealed that the fire started within the retail music store building. 
 
The cause of the fire has been determined to be accidental- electrical failure at a receptacle.
