Friday, January 12, 2018 Robbery - Arrest: C18-936 On January 2, 2018 at approximately 11:25 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service was alerted to an attempt robbery in the area of St. James Street and Portage Avenue. Tactical Support and General Patrol member attended and were unable to locate the suspect.     Officers met with the adult male victim who advised that he was driving Northbound on St. James Street from Portage Avenue. He stopped at red light, with his driver's side window partially down when a male approached the driver's side window and asked the victim for money. The victim politely refused and the male brandish a knife, demanded money, and threatened to injure the victim. The male grabbed onto the window and attempted to pull it. The light turned green and victim was able to drive away. He did not suffer injuries nor was his vehicle damaged.       The Winnipeg Police Forensic Services Unit examined the vehicle and was able to obtain fingerprints from the window, identifying a suspect. A warrant was obtained for his arrest.     On January 11, 2018 officers attended to the Winnipeg Remand Centre and arrested Jaime Efrain GARCIA, 36-years-old of Winnipeg. He has been charged with Robbery and Fail to Comply with Probation.     Garcia was detained in custody. Weapon/Drugs – Arrest: C18-7386    On January 11, 2018, Winnipeg Police received a report of suspicious activity occurring at a residence in the 200 block of Chalmers Ave. East, where investigators were advised that a handgun and drugs were seen in a suite.     The Street Crime Unit secured the suite and obtained a search warrant. As a result one suspect was arrested and a police seized a loaded handgun, $30,000 in cocaine, $25,000 in methamphetamine, and $15,000 in cash.     Tyion POLICARPO 28, has been charged with:        - Numerous Firearms offences    - Produce Scheduled Substance    - Possess Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking x 2    - Possess Proceeds of Crime    - Fail to Comply with Conditions of Undertaking     Policarpo was detained in custody.      Weapon/Drugs – Arrest: C18-7373 On January 11, 2018, Winnipeg Police responded to a report of a male being threatened at an apartment in the 3300 block of Pembina Hwy. Police arrived and located 2 males within the suite. In addition, responding officers located $26,000 in methamphetamine, and a loaded shotgun.     Mario TRUNZO, 50, was charged with:    - Uttering Threats    - Numerous Firearms offences    - Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking    - Possession of Proceeds of Crime     Trunzo was detained in custody.     A male in his 50's was charged with various firearms offences and Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the purpose of Trafficking. He was released on a Promise to Appear. Road Rage Incident - C18-4267 On January 7, 2018 the Winnipeg Police Service was notified that a 63-year-old male had been the victim of a road rage incident. The incident occurred at approximately 11:40 p.m. (January 6, 2018) in the area of the Centennial Concert Hall.     Officer met with the victim and learned that he was being picked up on Market Street between Market Street and Main Street after attending a show. As he was attempting to get into the rear seat of a silver SUV, a white Mercedes Benz was attempting to merge through traffic from behind.  A male then exited the Mercedes and assaulted the male by punching him in the upper body.     The victim was transported to hospital by a family member where he remains and is in stable condition.     This investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. An adult male was located, deceased, inside this location. The male has been identified as Hossein LOTFI, 77-years-old of Winnipeg. This investigation is continuing by members of the Homicide Unit. Wednesday, January 10, 2018     Weapons - Arrest: C18-6496 On January 10, 2018 at approximately 12:10 a.m., Winnipeg Police District 3 General Patrol members conducted a traffic stop of a taxi in the area of Salter Street and Dufferin Avenue.     While addressing the driver, officer observed a male in the backseat with what appeared to be a firearm protruding from a bag. The male was placed under arrest and taken into custody.  He was found to be in possession of a can of bear spray.  A sawed off .22 calibre rifle was located in the back seat along with three rounds of ammunition.     Derrick Scott COUTU, 38-years-old, of Winnipeg has been charged with: Possess Weapon Transport Firearm or Restricted Weapon Contrary to Regulations Carry Concealed Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition Possession of a Firearm, Prohibited or Restricted Weapon Obtained by Crime Possession of Firearm, Restricted Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order X8 Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized       Drugs and Weapon - Arrest: C18-5987 On January 9, 2018 at approximately 11:50 a.m., Winnipeg Police District 3 General Patrol members observed a suspicious male in the area of Arlington Street and Manitoba Avenue. Upon speaking to the male it was learned that there was an outstanding warrant of arrest for the male. He was placed under arrest and upon searching his person police discovered a can of bear spray and a folding knife.     He was also in possession of a backpack which contained the following: 4 grams of cocaine powder 4 1/8 gram rocks of cocaine wrapped in foil 2 baggies, each containing approx. 12 grams of methamphetamine 43 Percocet pill, each containing 5 mg of oxycotone A loaded, but dismantled shotgun 1 shotgun shell 3 digital scales, packaging material, and four bags of cutting agent   Scott Marcel BRENNAN, 28-years-old has been charged with: Fail to Comply with Recognizance X3 Fail to Comply with Probation Possess Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - Cocaine Possess Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - Methamphetamine Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 Possess Weapon X3 Careless Storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition Carry Concealed Weapon, prohibited Device or Ammunition Possession of Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order Fail to Comply with Recognizance Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order x2 Fail to Comply with Probation Order     Stolen Vehicle/AIR1 – Arrest: C18-6476   On January 9, 2018, at approximately 11:30 p.m., members of the District 3 Community Support Unit observed a stolen newer model Audi A6 sedan travelling in the area of Salter Street and Selkirk Avenue.     AIR1 was assigned to the incident and quickly acquired the stolen vehicle as it began to drive at a high rate of speed. Ground units did not pursue the vehicle.     The vehicle was tracked by AIR1 to the intersection of Keewatin Street and Gallagher Avenue West at which time officers successfully deployed a tire deflation device. The vehicle came to a stop in the 1500 block of Ross Avenue and the driver fled on foot.     After a brief foot pursuit, the suspect was placed under arrest at a schoolyard in the 1500 block of 1570 Elgin Avenue.     Members of the Major Crimes Unit continued with the investigation.     It has been determined that the vehicle was stolen during the morning of January 7, 2018, from the Bridgewater Trails area.     Rolly Allen Baptiste, a 22-year-old male of Winnipeg,has been charged with:       - Driving While Disqualified   - Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle   - Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000   - Fail to Comply with Probation Order (x3)   - Drive suspended/while disqualified (Highway Traffic Act)     He was detained in custody. Sunday January 7, 2018 MISSING PERSON – Elizabeth LESYK, 82: C18-4507 The Winnipeg Police Service is requesting the public's assistance in locating a missing 82-year-old female, Elizabeth LESYK.  She was last seen on this morning at approximately 10:50 a.m. January 7th, 2018 in the Transcona/Canterbury area of Winnipeg. LESYK is described as white, 5' 3" in height, 130 lbs., average build, short white hair, wearing a dark green sweater, beige pants, black slippers and thick black framed glasses. LESYK also has a pronounced Scottish accent and suffers from dementia.
