Crime Prevention Tip

 Public Advisory- Vehicle Break-ins
Recently, the Winnipeg Police Service has received reports city-wide regarding thefts from vehicles parked in personal driveways.

One of the common items stolen is garage door remotes which the suspect(s) then use to enter the garage/residence and steal further items
.

Please consider the following break-in prevention tips:

1. Keep your car visible
Avoid having your vehicle concealed by larger vehicles, fences or foliage; thieves like to work in private.

2. Don't make it easy
Keep windows and sunroofs closed and doors locked. Many thefts from vehicles are as a result of unlocked vehicles.

3. Vehicle alarm?
Don't forget to activate it.

4. Hide your valuables
Many smash-and-grab thieves act on impulse. So keep your stuff out of sight – either with you or in a locked trunk. Don't count on the glove box; thieves know to look there, and they're easy to break into.

A friendly reminder: NEVER leave your garage door remote inside your vehicle.

CPR Yards Crossing Study – Arlington Bridge Solutions

The Arlington Bridge is coming to the end of its useable life and fixing it is not possible. The goal of this study is to determine the best possible plan to move people and goods safely and efficiently across the CPR Yards when the Arlington Bridge closes.

Open houses were held in September but there is still time to provide your feedback through our virtual open house.

We encourage citizens to engage on this project by:

  • Visiting cprcrossing.winnipeg.ca and clicking on the button in the top right-hand corner to view the open house materials and provide your feedback online by October 16, 2015.

Visit City of Winnipeg – CPR Yards Crossing Study for more information.

King's Park Master Plan

The City is preparing a King's Park Master Plan which will include an assessment of existing infrastructure at the park and a reinvestment strategy. As part of the Master Plan for the park, we are asking for input from the community.

We encourage citizens to engage on this property by:

  • Attending a public open house on Wednesday, October 7 from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at the École St. Avila (633 Patricia Avenue). There is ample bike and vehicle parking at the venue and the format is come and go.
