The Winnipeg Police Service is requesting the public's assistance in locating a 17 year old male, Austin SUTHERLAND.
 
SUTHERLAND was last seen during the evening hours on December 31, 2012 in the Osborne area of Winnipeg, Manitoba.
 
SUTHERLAND is described as: Aboriginal, 5'8" tall, 130lbs, thin build, short black hair and brown eyes.  He was last seen wearing a grey track suit and older torn running shoes.  

 

 
The Winnipeg Police Service is concerned for SUTHERLAND'S well-being.
 
Anyone with information regarding SUTHERLAND'S whereabouts is asked to contact the Winnipeg Police Service Missing Persons Unit at 986-6250.

INDECENT ACT C13-005026

On January 8, 2013, members of the Winnipeg Police Service received the report of an indecent act that occurred at approximately 10:15 a.m. in the area of the 2300 block of Pembina Highway.
 
Officers met with a 27 year old female who advised that she was waiting in the area when she observed a male suspect attempting to get her attention. It was at this time the suspect exposed himself causing the victim to leave the area.
 
After the incident, the suspect was observed to enter a vehicle and drive southbound on Pembina Highway.
 
The suspect vehicle is described as a: blue, two door car; possibly a Honda Civic.
 
The suspect is described as: Male, darker complexion, 28 years of age, short brown hair, 5'5"-5'6" tall, wearing: a black jacket, and beige "Ecko" shoes.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Sex Crimes Unit. Anyone with information regarding this matter or further details regarding the identity of the suspect is asked to contact investigators at 204 986-6245 or Crime Stoppers at 204 786-TIPS (8477).
 
 
FINANCIAL ROBBERY C13-005218
On January 8, 2013 at approximately 4:15 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a bank located in the 800 block of Empress Street regarding a robbery incident involving a lone male suspect.
 
Officers met with a 49 year old female employee who had been confronted by the male. It was at this time the suspect demanded cash while indicating that he was in possession of a weapon.
 
The suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. No one was injured as a result of the incident.
 
The suspect is described as: Male, Aboriginal in appearance, approximately 40 years of age, slim build and clean shaven.

COMMERCIAL ROBBERY – C13-004213

On January 7, 2013 at approximately 7:15 a.m. members of the Winnipeg Police Service were dispatched to the 1900 block of Henderson Highway for the report of a commercial robbery that had just occurred.
 
Officers discovered that two male suspects entered the restaurant, approached the counter and confronted a 20 year old female employee. One of the males produced a weapon and obtained an undisclosed amount of money from the register. 
 
The suspects fled the area in a vehicle.
 
No one was injured during the incident.
 
The suspects are described as:
 
Caucasian, 30-40 years of age, approximately 5'10" tall, skinny build with a white/greyish beard & moustache
 
Caucasian, mid-twenties, approximately 5'11" tall, skinny build, short dark hair 
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information regarding this matter or the identity of the suspect(s) is asked to contact investigators at 204 986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204 786-TIPS (8477).
 
 
SUSPICIOUS R13-001695
On January 7, 2013 members of the Winnipeg Police Service received the report of a suspicious incident which occurred in the Transcona area on December 31, 2012 at approximately 3:00 p.m.
 
The investigation has revealed that a 51 year old female was waiting in the area of Kildare Avenue and Redonda Street when an unknown male in a vehicle approached her. The male asked if she needed a ride which was declined. The male then began asking the female a number of personal questions all of which were refused.
 
The male is described as: approximately 40 years of age, short hair wearing a white baseball cap.
 
The vehicle is described as: a white two-door pick-up truck
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the East District Crime Unit. Anyone with information regarding this matter is asked to contact investigators at 204 986-2857 or Crime Stoppers at 204 786-TIPS (8477).
 
 
SUSPICIOUS C13-004485
On January 7, 2013 at approximately 5:45 p.m. officers responded to the area of Charles Walk regarding a suspicious male in a vehicle.
 
Attending members met with the complainant and his 10 year old son. It was discovered that the 10 year old male had previously been approached by an unknown male while walking near Robinson Street and Dufferin Avenue.  The suspicious male exited his vehicle and engaged the 10 year old by offering him candy and a ride. The young male declined and ran home and notified a parent.
 
The male is described as: Male, Caucasian, in his 30's, bald, clean shaven, short stature, skinny build, missing a lower tooth and a tattoo on his upper left arm
 
The vehicle is described as: an older red cargo style van, no windows, very dirty
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the District 3 Crime Unit. Anyone with information regarding this matter is asked to contact investigators at 204 986-2848 or Crime Stoppers at 204 786-TIPS (8477).

COMMERCIAL BREAK & ENTER ARREST – C12-169651
On August 22, 25, November 3 & 7, 2012 the accused broke into the same business in the 200 block of Bannatyne Avenue and stole various liquors.

On November 7, 2012 the accused broke into a business in the 200 block of Stanley Street and stole electronic equipment.

On December 22 & 30, 2012 the accused broke into a business in the first 100 block of Princess Street and stole various liquors.

Due to the efforts of Uniform Patrol, the Division 11 Crime Unit and members of the Forensic Identification Section a suspect was identified.

On Friday, January 4, 2013 at approximately 6:45 p.m., officers located the male suspect at a residence in the downtown area of the city. He was arrested and taken into custody without incident.

Terrance SINCLAIR, 20 years of Winnipeg is facing multiple court order breaches and property related offences due to his alleged involvement.

He was detained at the Winnipeg Remand Centre. 


MARIHUANA GROW OPERATION ARREST – R13-001282
As previously released, on Saturday, January 5, 2013 Emergency Personnel were dispatched to the 700 block of Victor Street for the report of a working fire which involved 4 separate residences.  C13-002908 refers.

Once the fire(s) were under control a marihuana grow operation was discovered in one of the residences.  This grow operation was not the cause of the fire.

The investigation continued by members of the Green Team.

Located within the residence were:

- 82 marihuana plants with an estimated street value of $91,840.00.
- Grow equipment valued at $3,000.00

A 39 year old male resident was arrested and later released on a Promise to Appear.


RESIDENTIAL FIRE – C13-003084
On Saturday, January 5, 2013 at approximately 1:30 p.m. Emergency Personnel were dispatched to the 800 block of Main Street for the report of a working fire.

Investigation has revealed that the fire started in a suite on the 5th floor of the building.

A 77 year old male was transported to hospital in unstable condition but was later upgraded to stable.

The cause of the fire is believed to be due to careless smoking and total damage is estimated at $200,000.00.


SUSPICIOUS PERSON – C13-002483
On Friday, January 4, 2013 at approximately 7:00 p.m. Winnipeg Police Service members were dispatched to the area of Keewatin Avenue and Burrows Street regarding the report of a Suspicious Person.

Officers met with the complainant who advised that while she had been inside the store, an unknown male in a vehicle approached her four children waiting outside.  This male asked if the elder two children if they would like his dog to take their two younger siblings for a ride.  The children said no and all four went into the store to tell their mother.

The male is described as: Caucasian, 40-50 years of age, medium build, five o'clock shadow with short salt & pepper hair.  He was wearing a large black sweater and blue jeans.

The dog is described as being gold in colour with a red body collar.

The vehicle is described as a white Jeep style with four doors and a black curved stripe at the rear quarter panel.

MISCHIEF UNDER $5,000.00 ARREST – C13-003536
On Sunday, January 6, 2013 at approximately 2:15 a.m. members of the Winnipeg Police Service were dispatched to the 400 block of Flora Avenue for the report of a youth who was out of control and damaging property.

Attending members located an intoxicated and uncooperative 16 year old male.  To safely de-escalate the situation and subdue the accused, officers were forced to deploy their Electronic Control Device (Taser).  As a result, the youth suffered a minor injury that required medical attention.

The accused was later detained at the Manitoba Youth Centre.

FIRE – C13-002908
On Saturday, January 5, 2013 at approximately 5:15 a.m. Emergency Personnel were dispatched to the 700 block of Victor Street for a working fire.
 
The investigation is in the early stages and it appears that the fire started in the garage, spread to the house and then to the neighbouring homes on either side.
 
Initial damage to the three homes is estimated at $400,000.00.  No one within the homes was injured.
 
Not long after another fire was reported to an apartment building located a short distance away in the same block of Victor Street.
 
Several people were taken to hospital in stable condition.
 
Estimated damage to the apartment building is $30,000.00.

At this time both fires are being treated as suspicious.
