Friday, September 7, 2012   INDECENT ACT   C12-178923 On Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at approximately11:20 p.m., General Patrol Members responded to the report of an indecent act which occurred in the area of Omand's Creek Park.   An investigation of the incident revealed that two females, ages 21 and 22 were walking in Omand's Creek Park when a male riding a bicycle approached them from behind and rode past them. The male stopped and as the two females walked past him, he indecently exposed himself while conducting an indecent act.   The female victims quickly left the area and the male continued on his way.   The suspect in this matter is described as follows: Brown coloured skin, approximately 18 – 22 years old, 5'10" tall, skinny to medium build wearing a black hat, black hoodie and baggy black jeans.   The investigation is continuing by members of the Sex Crimes Unit. Anyone with information regarding this matter is asked to contact police at 204-986-6245 or CrimeStoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).     FIRE INVESTIGATION   C12-179777 On Thursday, September 6, 2012 at approximately 12:50 a.m., emergency personnel responded to a working garage fire in the area of the 400 block of Morley Avenue.   Damage is estimated at $30,000 dollars. No one was injured as a result of the incident.   The investigation is continuing by members of the Arson Strike Force.   Anyone with information regarding this matter is asked to contact investigators at 204-986-6813 or CrimeStoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).     STRONGARM ROBBERY ARRESTS C12-178100 On Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at approximately 10:00 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service were dispatched to the area of Carlton Street and Cumberland Avenue regarding a report of a strongarm robbery.   The investigation revealed that a 55 year old female and 49 year old male were walking in the area when they were suddenly approached from behind by an unknown male. The male suspect took hold of the 49 year old male and preceded to assault him about the body while two unknown females that were with the male suspect joined in the assault.   The 49 year old female victim attempted to assist the male victim, however was threatened by the suspects. The male victim sustained minor injury not requiring medical attention. The female victim was not injured as a result of the incident.   The suspects stole personal items from the victims and fled. Police arrived on scene and immediately apprehended one female suspect and the male suspect in the area. They were arrested and taken into custody.   The second female suspect was located shortly thereafter in the area of the 300 block of Kennedy Street. She was arrested and taken into custody.   Tracey Mae SUMMER, 39 years old Winnipeg has been charged with: Robbery with Intent Robbery with Violence Breach of Probation X 2   She was detained in custody.   Sherrilynn Mary Michelle COLOMB, 20 years old of Winnipeg has been charged with: Robbery with Intent Robbery with Violence Fail to comply with condition Recognizance   She was detained in custody.   Logan Ture Allan DUCHARME, 26 years old of Winnipeg has been charged with: Robbery with Intent Robbery with Violence Breach of Probation   He was detained in custody.     For further information contact either: Patrol Sgt. Thursday, September 6, 2012   MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION INVOLVING A PEDESTRIAN   C12-178669 On Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at approximately 4:20 p.m., emergency personnel responded to the area of Pembina Highway and Dalhousie Drive regarding a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian.   Investigating members learned that a 21 year old female was crossing Pembina Highway on the south side of Dalhousie Drive in a westerly direction, when she was struck by a vehicle turning southbound onto Pembina Highway from Dalhousie Drive.   The pedestrian was conveyed to hospital in critical condition where she was later upgraded to stable condition.   The investigation is continuing by members of the Central Traffic Collision Investigation Section.     SEXUAL ASSAULT C12-178877 On Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at approximately 9:50 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a report of a sexual assault which took place in the area of the 900 block of Plessis Road.   The investigation revealed that a 50 year old female was walking in the area at approximately 9:00 p.m., when a male suspect approached her from behind and grabbed her. The suspect attempted to take hold of the victim; however she was able to break from his grip and she fled from the area.   The victim sustained minor injury but did not require medical attention.   The suspect is described as: Male, 5'10" – 6'0" tall, medium build, wearing dark coloured clothing.   The investigation is continuing by members of the Sex Crimes Unit. Anyone with information regarding this matter is asked to contact police at 204-986-6245 or CrimeStoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).        COMMERCIAL ROBBERY C12-179022 On Thursday, September 6, 2012 at approximately 12:55 a.m., General Patrol Members responded to a convenience store located in the 800 block of Cavalier Street regarding a commercial robbery.   The investigation revealed that a male and female armed with weapons attended to the store and approached a 27 year old male employee. The male and female suspects demanded and retrieved items before fleeing from the location.   The victim was not injured as a result of this incident.   The suspects are described as following: Suspect #1: Male, Caucasian, 5'10" tall, slim build Suspect #2: Female, 5'0" tall, heavy build   The investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. The male and female suspects demanded and retrieved an undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes before fleeing from the location.   The victim was not injured as a result of the incident.   The suspects are described as follows: Suspect #1: Male, Caucasian, 6'0" tall, average build, short shaved hair Suspect #2: Female, Caucasian, 5'0" – 5'7" tall   The investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Wednesday, September 5, 2012     BACK TO SCHOOL SAFETY As the new school year is upon us, the Winnipeg Police Service would like to remind parents and guardians of the importance of the safety of our children as they go to and from school. Each year, serious safety hazards are created when children are being dropped off and picked up from school.   Parents and guardians who are stopping or parking their vehicles while dropping their children off are reminded to do so in an appropriate and legal fashion, paying particular attention to no stopping/parking signs in schools zones. Drivers should be abiding with the pick up and drop off programs that are already established for your school.    If your child walks to school, walk with your child several times to familiarize them with the route and point out traffic hazards and situations to avoid. As the distance from home to school increases, so does the risk of encountering traffic safety hazards.    Talk to your child about traffic safety and teach them when and where it is safest to cross while stressing the importance of using crosswalks and abiding by the direction of School Patrols. Children should visually scan potential dangerous areas such as parking lots and driveways for vehicles.   Parents, guardians and other motorists should consider the volume and speed of the traffic in your area. Be mindful of children in the area and pay particular attention near schools as children could dart from between vehicles at any time.   Stop signs on buses picking up and dropping off children must always be respected. Anyone not stopping when a school bus has its stop sign and lights activated may be subject to a fine under the Highway Traffic Act.   Please remember, Just Slow Down.       For further information contact either: Patrol Sgt. Wednesday, September 5, 2012   SERIOUS ASSAULT   C12-177621 On Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at approximately 8:00 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the area of the 300 block of Aberdeen Avenue regarding a serious assault.   Responding members located an injured 16 year old male. The male was conveyed to hospital where he remains in unstable condition.   The investigation is continuing by members of the Criminal Investigation Bureau (Division 40). Anyone that may have witnessed or have any information regarding this incident is asked to contact police at 204-986-7983 or CrimeStoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).     SHOTS FIRED   C12-178047 On Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at approximately 8:40 p.m., General Patrol Members, attended to the area of the 500 block of Furby Street regarding the report of shots fired.   Attending members learned that a group of individuals were in the area of this location at which time a number of shots were fired.   No one sustained injuries as a result of the incident and there was no damage to property.   This investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit.    Anyone who has any information regarding the incident is asked to contact investigators at 986-6219 or Crimestoppers at 786-TIPS (8477).     SHOTS FIRED   C12-178164 On Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at approximately 11:15 p.m., Members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the area of the 800 block of Boyd Avenue for the report of shots fired.   Upon arrival officers confirmed that a shot had been fired at the front of a residence. There were several people inside the residence at the time of the incident, however no one sustained injury.      This investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit.    Anyone who has any information regarding the incident is asked to contact investigators at 986-6219 or Crimestoppers at 786-TIPS (8477).     SHOTS FIRED   C12-178225 On Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at approximately 1:10 a.m., General Patrol Members responded to the 400 block of Toronto Street regarding the report of shots fired.   Officers arrived at the residence and located an incendiary device which had been ignited and caused a small fire. The fire was immediately extinguished by officers. The investigation revealed that multiple shots were fired at the residence. Several individuals that were within the residence at the time of the incident did not sustain injury as a result. There was minor damage to the residence.   This investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit.    Anyone who has any information regarding the incident is asked to contact investigators at 986-6219 or Crimestoppers at 786-TIPS (8477).     HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION C12-176500 As previously released - on September 2, 2012, at approximately 2:20 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the area of Burrows Avenue and Main Street regarding suspicious circumstances.   Attending officers confirmed that a body had been located. The deceased has been identified as 23 year old, Simone SANDERSON.   As a result of autopsy results the death of SANDERSON is now a confirmed homicide.   Investigation is continuing by members of the Homicide Unit.   Anyone with information regarding this matter is asked to contact investigators at 204-986-6508 or CrimeStoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).     STOLEN VEHICLE ARRESTS R12-88801 On Monday, September 3, 2012 at approximately 2:50 a.m., Members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the area of the 1400 block of Portage Avenue regarding a stolen vehicle. The investigation revealed that three suspects were observed operating a vehicle in the area. A concerned citizen had contacted police.   Attending officers arrived at the location and all three suspects fled from the area. With the assistance of the K9 Unit and the Flight Operation Unit (AIR1) directing officer to the suspects' location, all three suspects were located, arrested and taken into custody.   Two 13 year old males are facing charges of Theft Over $5000. They were released on a Promise to Appear.   A 13 year old female was released on a Caution for Joy Riding.         For further information contact either: Patrol Sgt.
