Davis was safely located today.

Winnipeg Police Service News Release

 

  WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 5th, 2011
 

DRUG SEARCH WARRANT- ARREST                     C10-214939
On September 20th, 2010 Members of the District 2 Community Support Unit, along with assistance of Tactical Support Team, executed a Controlled Drug Substances Search Warrant on a commercial property in the 500 Berry Street. 
 
Located inside was a large scale sophisticated hydroponic marihuana grow operation which had the potential to produce approximately 2000 cannabis marihuana plants.  The Winnipeg Police Service Drug Unit provided assistance in dismantling this operation.
 
As a result of this investigation the following has been seized:
 
- Approximately 590 Cannabis Marihuana Plants – Estimated value $663,000.00
 
- Approximately 6 Kilograms Cannabis Marihuana shake - Estimated value $15,000.00
 
- Approximately 62 Grams of Hash Oil – Estimated Value $1550.00
 
- Assorted grow and extraction equipment – Estimated Value $10,000.00
 
On January 4th, 2011 at approximately 10:00 a.m. Winnipeg Police Service Members stopped a vehicle in the area of the 200 block Aubrey Street, and subsequently arrested a 51 year old male allegedly involved with this incident. 
 
John Edward MILLER, 51 years of Winnipeg has been charged with the following offences:
 
- Warrant to Arrest – Possessing Substance for Purpose of Trafficking
- Trafficking in controlled substance- Cannabis Marihuana
- Production of controlled substance X2 (Cannabis Marihuana and Cannabis Resin)
- Fail to comply with conditions- Undertaking
 
MILLER has been detained at the Winnipeg Remand Centre.

Winnipeg Police Service News Release

 

Tuesday, January 4th, 2011


COMMERCIAL BREAK AND ENTER- ARREST        C11-1571
On January 2nd, 2011 at approximately 10:30 p.m. a suspect male, with his faced concealed with a balaclava, allegedly broke into the front door of a condominium block within the 1st 100 block of Academy Road.  Once inside the suspect attended to the underground parkade where he broke into a vehicle and stole a General Positioning System (GPS).  The suspect then proceeded to enter and subsequently steal, a sport utility vehicle valued at $35,000.00.
 
On January 3rd, 2011 at approximately 3:30 a.m. this same suspect male attended to a retail business within the 500 block of Wall Street where he broke into two service vehicles that were parked outside, removing two GPS's from within.
 
This suspect male then broke into this business where a variety of electronics were gathered in preparation to load them into the stolen sport utility vehicle.
 
Uniform Officers responding to a security alarm, arrived and observed the suspect male inside the business.  Members from the Tactical Team and the Canine Unit also attended and after searching the building the suspect was located inside and was arrested without incident.
 
Darryl Grant MOUSSEAU, 31 years of Winnipeg has been charged with the following:
 
-          Break and Enter X 2
-          Possess Break In Instruments X 2
-     Disguise with Intent X 2
-          Theft Over
-          Theft Under X 5, and
-          Fail to comply Recognizance X2
 
MOUSSEAU has been detained at the Winnipeg Remand Centre.

IMPAIRED DRIVER- ARREST               C10-295550
On December 30th, 2010, shortly after 11:30 p.m. a male was operating his vehicle in the area of Portage Avenue and Lenore Street when he was stopped by members of the Winnipeg Police Service Festive Checkstop Program.
 
As a result of this incident a 34 year old male will be facing charges of Drive Impaired and Drive Over 80 mgs%.
 
The male's name will be released once formal charges are laid.
 
 
IMPAIRED DRIVER- ARREST               C10-294711
On December 29th, 2010, shortly after 9:30 p.m. a female was operating her vehicle in the area of Euclid Avenue and Argyle Street when she collided with a hydro pole and became stuck in deep snow.  Members of the Winnipeg Police Service attended and subsequently arrested the female.
 
As a result of this incident a 23 year old female will be facing charges of Drive Impaired, Drive Over 80 mgs% and Drive While Disqualified.
 
The female's name will be released once formal charges are laid.
 
 
IMPAIRED DRIVER- ARREST               C10-295405
On December 30th, 2010, shortly before 8:00 p.m. a male was operating his vehicle in the area of McPhillips Street and Mountain Avenue when he was stopped by members of the Winnipeg Police Service Festive Checkstop Program.
 
As a result of this incident a 44 year old male will be facing charges of Drive Impaired and Drive Over 80 mgs%.
 
The male's name will be released once formal charges are laid
 
 
IMPAIRED DRIVER- ARREST               C10-296257
On December 31st, 2010, shortly before 9:30 p.m. a male was operating his vehicle in the area of McPhillips Street and Redwood Avenue when he was stopped by members of the Winnipeg Police Service Festive Checkstop Program.
 
As a result of this incident a 50 year old male will be facing charges of Drive Impaired and Drive Over 80 mgs%.
 
The male's name will be released once formal charges are laid
 
 
IMPAIRED DRIVER- ARREST               C10-294704
On December 29th, 2010, shortly after 9:30 p.m. a male was operating his vehicle in the area of Henderson Highway and McLeod Avenue when he was stopped by members of the Winnipeg Police Service Festive Checkstop Program.
 
As a result of this incident a 51 year old male will be facing charges of Drive Impaired and Refuse Breath Sample.
 
 
IMPAIRED DRIVER- ARREST               C10-294914
On December 30th, 2010, shortly after 3:30 a.m. a female was operating her vehicle on Dafoe Road in the University of Manitoba Campus when she drove into a ditch and became stuck. Members of the Winnipeg Police Service attended and subsequently arrested the female.
 
As a result of this incident a 20 year old female faces charges of Drive Impaired and Drive Over 80 mgs%.
 
The female's name will be released once formal charges are laid.
 
 
IMPAIRED DRIVER- ARREST                    C11-002
On January 1st, 2011, shortly after midnight a female was operating her vehicle in the area of Keewatin Street and Logan Avenue when she was stopped by members of the Winnipeg Police Service Festive Checkstop Program.
 
As a result of this incident a 52 year old female will be facing charges of Drive Impaired and Drive Over 80 mgs%.
 
The female's name will be released once formal charges are laid
 
 
IMPAIRED DRIVER- ARREST                      C11-37
On January 1st, 2011, shortly after 12:30 a.m. it is alleged that a male was operating his vehicle in the area of Jefferson Avenue and McPhillips Street in an erratic manner when he was stopped by members of the Winnipeg Police Service Festive Checkstop Program.
 
As a result of this incident Alfredo Darang MARTIN, 58 years of Winnipeg has been charged with Drive Impaired, Drive Over 80 mgs% and Refuse Breath Sample.
 
 
IMPAIRED DRIVER- ARREST                    C11-382
On January 1st, 2010, shortly before 6:00 a.m. a female was operating her vehicle in the area of Bishop Grandin Boulevard and Dakota Street when she collided with another vehicle.  Members of the Winnipeg Police Service attended and arrested the female.
 
As a result of this incident a 27 year old female will be facing charges of Drive Impaired and Drive Over 80 mgs%.
 
The female's name will be released once formal charges are laid

  Monday, January 3rd, 2011

 
MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION- UPDATE                C11-1596
On Monday, January 3rd, 2011 at approximately 6:30 a.m. Members of the Winnipeg Police Service, along with Emergency Service Responders, attended to the intersection of Sargent Avenue and King Edward Street for a report of motor vehicle collision that had occurred. 
 
The initial investigation has revealed that a collision occurred between a taxi cab that was travelling southbound on King Edward Street and a vehicle that was proceeding eastbound on Sargent Avenue. 
 
The 57 year old male driver of the taxi cab had been transported to the hospital in critical condition.  He has since been upgraded to stable condition.  A 24 year old male passenger of the cab and the 21 year old male driver of the second vehicle were also conveyed to hospital in stable condition.  
 
This investigation is continuing by Members of the Central Traffic Unit and anyone who may have witnessed this collision is asked to contact them 986-6271.

Winnipeg Police Service News Release

 

  

 SUNDAY, JANUARY 2nd, 2011
11:00 a.m.
 
Stolen Vehicle/Assault Police Officer Arrest             C11-00658
On January 1st, 2011 at approximately 4:00 p.m. members of the Winnipeg Police Service Division 12 Community Support observed a vehicle being driven in an erratic manner in the area of Keewatin Street and Alexander Avenue.
Officers were able to conduct a traffic stop and determined that the lone male driver appeared to be intoxicated. While speaking to police the driver placed the vehicle in drive. An officer was able to reach inside and take hold of the driver, however, the suspect accelerated forward dragging the officer approximately 10 meters. At this time the vehicle became stuck in a snow bank and the suspect was arrested. The officer did not sustain any injuries as a result of the incident.
A 31 year old Winnipeg male had been charged with the following offences and detained at the Provincial Remand Centre:
  • Assault Police Officer
  • Drive Impaired
  • Refuse Breath Demand
  • Drive Disqualified
  • Public Mischief
  • Warrant of Arrest x 3
 
Stolen Vehicle - Arrest                                           R10-106354
On December 31st, 2010 at approximately 7:00 p.m. patrolling officers observed a vehicle that had been stolen a few hours earlier being driven in an erratic manner in the area of Selkirk Avenue and King Edward Street.
The vehicle was being driven at a high rate of speed, and had passed through several stop signs and red lights as reported by witnesses.
Police deployed a Stop-Stick in the area of Manitoba Avenue and Keewatin Street which resulted in the front tire of the suspect vehicle being deflated.
The vehicle continued driving south on Keewatin reaching speeds approaching 130 km/h. The driver eventually lost control of the vehicle in the area of Lincoln Avenue and Jordan Street after colliding with a snow bank.   Two suspects were subsequently arrested a short distance from the vehicle.
  
A 19 year old Winnipeg male has been charged with the following offences:
  • Theft over $5000
  • Flight from Police Officer
  • Possess Proceeds of Crime
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (Cocaine)
  • Breaches of Court Conditions x 8
  • Drive While Disqualified (HTA)
A 17 year old male youth was charged with:
  • Theft over $5000
  • Possession of Break-in Instruments
Both accused are High Risk – Level 4 Offenders and were detained in custody.
 
 
COMMERCIAL ROBBERY ARREST                                  C11-00551
On January 1, 2011 at approximately 11:40 a.m. members of the Winnipeg Police Service Cadet Corps were flagged down in the 600 block of Ellice Avenue by witnesses in regards to a Commercial Robbery in progress.
 
The two cadets contacted the Communication Centre and several General Patrol units were dispatched. Attending officers were able to apprehend the accused as he exited the store.
 
A 23 year old male has been detained in custody and is facing the following charges:
 
·        Robbery With A Weapon
·        Fail to Comply Conditions of Recognizance
·         Warrant of Arrest
